Hunter Education Course

A Hunter Education Course has been scheduled for this summer. Monday-Wednesday classes will meet at Water's Edge Nature Center. Thursday's class will meet at the Izaak Walton League across from Smith Lake. To receive certification, participants must attend all four sessions. The class is offered to anyone 12 years of age or older, free of charge. The course will cover firearm handling and safety, wildlife management, survival and various other topics. Live shooting will be offered as part of the class. The course is sponsored by the Kossuth County Conservation Board. Preregistration is required for the course. Students must register online by clicking here. Follow the prompts to enroll. A manual must also be picked up at the nature center prior to the class. River Canoe Paddle
Veteran's Park
Tuesday, August 28
5:30 p.m.

Join the Kossuth County Conservation Naturalists for a 1-2 hour canoe paddle on the evening of August 28 at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy the scenic bends of the East Fork. The trip will meet at Veteran's Park at 5:30 sharp. Canoes, supplies, training and transportation are provided. Basic canoeing experience is preferred. Families are welcome but children must be 12 or older to paddle and must be accompanied by an adult. Our canoes hold 2-3 people. Bring an adventurous spirit, shoes or secue sandals and clothes that can get muddy. No flip-flops allowed! Plan to get wet. There is no charge for this program.
