Maple Syruping
Smith Wildlife Area
Sunday, March 15: 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Join Kossuth County Conservation this Sunday at the Cozy Grove Sugar Shack just south of Algona. Learn the process of making maple syrup through hands-on experience of tapping trees, dumping buckets of sap and cooking. This is a great family event and great opportunity to soak up some fresh spring air while taking a step back in time and learning the traditional process of making maple syrup. We have over one hundred trees tapped. Be prepared to get a little muddy.

Smith Wildlife Area is located approximately two miles south of algona on highway 169. When you see the brown Smith Wildlife Area sign, turn east and follow the access lane to the parking area. Follow a short half-mile path down a hill to reach the sugar shack. Call 515-295-2138 with any questions.
